Policies & Conduct
for Students

Please read the following information carefully, as it details Cadenza Ballet's policies and procedures and codes of conduct for students.

Enrollment Policy

Cadenza Ballet requires every student to enroll for classes prior to their first class. Failure to do so will mean the student may not participate in class. This is because required waivers have not been acknowledged and signed.

Beginning in January 2025, our registration will move to Google Forms  If you do not wish to submit your enrollment online, please arrive 15 minutes early prior to the start of your first class so you can complete the new student enrollment paperwork.

Class Payment & Refund Policy

Payment is due before or immediately after the class you attend. We accept cash, check, or credit card payments. Please make all checks out to Cadenza Ballet, LLC.

All single class payments, series/workshop payments, and monthly tuition payments are final and will not be refunded.

Dress Code

CB wants every student to feel comfortable coming to class. Therefore, we do not have a dress code.

We recommend students wear comfortable athletic wear (shorts, leggings, sweatpants, t-shirts, etc), if they choose not to wear traditional ballet attire.

SHOES: ballet slippers of any kind or color. Students may also wear socks.

POINTE: Pointe shoes are required for pointe class. Pointe shoes must be professionally fitted. We recommend New Mexico Dance Wear as a first stop for pointe shoe fittings. NMDW requires appointments for pointe shoe fittings. Please visit: https://www.nmdancewear.com/

HAIR: We do not have stipulations for hair; however, it is in a student's best interest to have a hair tie for when we are turning in class, to pull hair off of face and neck. This is only because hair can whip in eyes/on face, which can lead to improper spotting technique.

Attendance Policy

To see progress in ballet, students need to attend classes as regularly as possible. Attending consistently is for your benefit, and your benefit alone.

While we understand that it is not possible to attend every class, we do need students to attend in order to keep our classes running.

Attendance is taken at the beginning of each class.

LATE ARRIVALS

Students should try to arrive about 10-15 prior to the start of class. If you will be more than 20-minutes late, we kindly ask that you do not attend class that evening, as you will have missed too many barre exercises.

Class Etiquette & Conduct

It is the expectation of Leigh and Cadenza Ballet, LLC that each student conduct themselves in a respectful way to their fellow dancers, and to the teacher.

We expect each student to refrain from disruptive behavior in the studio.

  • All cell-phones must be silenced or off.

  • Students should be on time to each class they attend

  • Students should refrain from excessive talking during class and in-between combinations, unless there is a question/discussion about technique/artistry/combinations

  • Students should try to use the bathroom before class, after class, or during the small break between barre and center floor. If you must use the restroom during class, please do so in-between combinations.

  • All students are expected to treat themselves and each other with courtesy and respect.

  • All students are expected to try each combination, unless injured. Struggling through challenging combinations may not sound "fun" but it really is the way you improve. And we will support and encourage you the whole way!

  • We may not teach the way you have been taught in the past. And this is both normal and a good thing. While we at Cadenza Ballet know we may not be the right fit for each student, we do ask you to enter the studio with an open mind and be prepared to learn something new, even if it is different than what you may be used to. If you are unsure about a term or technique being taught, please just ask!
