How can I take a class with CB?

Students interested in joining our classes who have never taken with CB before can sign-up for a trial class. To join a class, first-time students must register through our Trial Class Sign-Up page.

For those students who are interested in continuing their training with CB, there is a 3-step process to being fully registered as a student.

Step 1: Complete the Registration Form

Step 2: Sign-Up for the classes they wish to take. Students may sign-up for classes up to 2 months in advance. Class sign-up can be done via our Calendly page

Step 3: To complete your registration and be booked for your classes, students must pay the tuition option of their choice. CB offers single class cards, 10-class pack, 20-class pack, or monthly, unlimited class pack. Students can pay online or in-person before the start of their first class. To remit payment online, visit the Tuition page.

What is a trial class?

CB offers a trial class for all new students, which is free of charge. This class can be taken on any night the student wishes to attend a class. It gives new students the opportunity to meet Leigh, ensure they are in the correct level, and most importantly, ensure CB is a good fit for them.

To sign-up for a trial class, please complete our online form on our Trial Class Sign-Up Page. You can enter a day/time or class you're interested in attending, and Leigh will reach out to you to confirm.

Once you attend your first trial class, you will need to determine your tuition fee package for all future classes.

How do I know what level I am?

CB offers seven levels of ballet technique. Students with no previous dance training or experience should sign up for the Level I Absolute Beginner Class. Students who have had significant previous training with a gap of 3 years or more should try our Level IV Intermediate 1 class. Those students who have previous dance experience with no gaps in their training should attempt the level that closely matches the level they were at their previous studio/school. When in doubt, dancers with previous training should try either the Level III Beginner 2 class or the Level IV Intermediate 1 class. Students who are unsure and wish to discuss their needs and concerns regarding level placement can schedule a free consult by visiting our Calendly page, and Leigh can assist on getting the student in the correct level.

Can adults learn pointe?

Absolutely adults can learn pointe! Here at CB, we offer seven levels of ballet technique training so adults can see progression and have a clear pathway to getting their first pair of pointe shoes!

When can I begin pointe as an adult student?

It depends on many factors that include whether or not you have previous training, how many hours per week you take, and how much you're willing to invest in your training in both time and money. At CB, our levels create a clear pathway to pointe. All students are encouraged to take our pre-pointe class, which help solidify fundamental technique while focused on building strength so students are well prepared to begin pointe work.

We typically recommend students achieve an intermediate level of ballet training before beginning pointe. While adults do not have the same issues as youth do when starting pointe too early, adults can develop bad habits and weaknesses from beginning pointe too early that can lead them to be fearful of certain movements (such as turning!) as well as increase the potential for injury.

Students interested in beginning pointe work should speak with Leigh, so a personalized plan can be created to get you en pointe!

What performance opportunities does CB offer?

CB offers two ways to perform. Students who enrolled in our monthly class pack are eligible to perform in our school showcase in May. Students who are not enrolled in the monthly class pack are not eligible to perform in the showcase.

CB is also the home of Zenith Ballet Project. Our company is comprised of dancers aged 25 or older who perform both classical and contemporary choreography. admittance to ZBP is by audition only. You can read more about ZBP and upcoming auditors by visiting our Zenith Ballet Project site.
