Is Cadenza Right For Me?
CADENZA is NOT for you IF:

-You're not 18 or older.
We currently only offer classes to adult students aged 18 or older. You must be 18 at the time of your first class.

-You just want a ballet class.
We take our time to actually teach technique. We welcome questions, and as such, we don't always make it through our full lesson plans.

-You like bigger class room environments and do not want corrections
We keep our class sizes small to provide individual attention and personal corrections in addition to general corrections.

-You want an exercise class.
The nature of ballet classes is such that they do not always compare to the feel of a workout class. Sometimes, due to the the need to explain technique to learn and master skills, class flow is disrupted.

CADENZA IS for you IF:

-You're looking for a ballet class with community where you are taken seriously, encouraged, and welcomed.
-You love the thought of having pathways to all the ballet dreams: pointe shoes and/or performance.
-You're ready to try ballet, but you feel intimidated or overwhelmed.

-You've taken classes before, but feel like you're still confused about steps: you need more break-downs and explanations

-You're ready to take your dancing to the next level.

-You're highly inquisitive and love to learn, and want feedback on how to improve your dancing.

-You want to work hard and have fun at the same time.

FAQ's
Is Ballet Hard?
Ballet is a challenging physical art form to learn. While anyone who wants to learn it can (and can be great at it!), it is not for everyone. You really have to have patience with yourself and the process, and you have to like challenges. Otherwise, it can feel pretty overwhelming. Of course, that's why Cadenza is here: to help make it feel less daunting! It sometimes can be slow and monotonous as we build technique and proper muscle memory, especially in the beginning and intermediate levels, so you have to have patience for that as well! But, I will say this, as challenging as it is, it is exceptionally rewarding. Give it a try!
Do I have to come for the entire semester/year or can I sign up for individual classes?
While we do recommend coming for all classes to get the best experience and to see progress in ballet, we understand that life happens. Students can sign-up for individual classes, or pay for the full seasonal term. Students do not need to commit to a full school year term.

Do you have make-up classes? No. Due to limited studio times and availability, we do not offer any make-up sessions. We do offer credits so we make sure you're getting your money's worth.

If I miss classes, will I be given a refund? No. Cadenza does not offer any refunds. We can provide a class credit for you, valid for 14-days, for those paying an individual-class basis; or, for those paying full seasonal term, we can offer a credit to be used towards classes in the next term. We set this policy because we want to help our students create positive habits. You only see real progress when you are attending regularly. Refunds are only given if Cadenza has to cancel for any reason, or for extraordinary, unforeseen circumstances.

Where is Cadenza located?
We are located in Pomegranate Studios on the corner of Paseo de Peralta and Cerrillos Roads. The studio is located on the second floor, above Sage Bakehouse. The studio entrance is located to the left (when facing the building) of the Sage Bakery Employee Entrance. Dancers should follow all signs for Pomegranate Studios.
The address is:
535 Cerrillos Road
Santa Fe, NM 87501

Is there parking? Yes. The building has a small parking lot off of the entrance from Paseo de Peralta. Please only park in spots marked for 535 Cerrillos Road. If the lot is full, additional parking is available just up the street at CHOMP.

What do I wear to classes?
While we do not have a specific dress-code, beginning with our Fall Term, we will require students to wear appropriate, movement friendly attire. Tank tops, non-excessively baggy t-shirts, leggings, or shorts, or traditional ballet attire will be required. Warm-ups are fine.

What shoes are required?
Traditional ballet slippers (pink, sand, or otherwise matching skin tone) are the preferred footwear. Students are free to wear socks until they are able to get a pair.
For pointe class, students must have pointe shoes with appropriately stitched ribbons and elastics, and must have been fitted professionally.

Are there breaks in the classes?
Short, 5-minute breaks are given between barre and center floor.

Do we sell dance wear?
No. We are not a dance wear seller or re-seller. We encourage our students to shop on Discount Dance Supply and Amazon. Additionally, for those requiring fittings, special orders, or want a fun in-person shopping experience, we recommend Styles-In-Motion, LLC in Las Cruces, NM (the closest dance shop to us now). Cadenza endeavors to have pop-up shops periodically throughout the year, when schedules allow it to be offered.

Can I wear my hair down?
No. Students with hair shoulder length or longer must pull hair off the face and neck. Additionally, ponytails/braids that whip in the face when turning must be secured to prevent that (it negatively impacts turning technique!). This is one of the few traditional ballet protocols we're super strict on!
